FORT LAUDERDALE — A motorist is suing another vehicle owner and driver, alleging insufficient measures were taken to prevent injuries.
Stash Marsha Heslop Spicer filed a complaint July 18 in Broward County Circuit Court against Loriann Gillings and Jelani Emmanuel Walters, alleging failure to exercise reasonable care in operating and maintaining a motor vehicle.
According to the complaint, on May 2, 2015, Spicer was traveling at or near the intersection of stare Road 91 and state Road 870 in Tamarac. The suit says, suddenly and without warning, a motor vehicle owned by Gillings and driven by Walters collided with Spicer's vehicle.
As a result, Spicer says she sustained bodily injuries resulting in pain, suffering, disability, disfigurement, mental anguish, damage to property and expense of hospitalization, medical care and treatment.
The plaintiff alleges Gillings and Walters negligently operated or maintained a motor vehicle and failed to exercise reasonable care in operating the vehicle, resulting in dangerous conditions to other motorists.
Spicer seeks trial by jury, damages in excess of $15,000, exclusive of costs, interest, attorney fees and all other relief the court deems just and proper. She is represented by attorney David A. Hoines of Hoines, Hess & Rose in Fort Lauderdale.
