FORT LAUDERDALE — A couple is suing Security First Insurance Co., alleging breach of contract after their Margate home was damaged by a tornado.

George Salama and Monica Dolphin filed the complaint on July 18, in the Broward Circuit Court, alleging that the insurer breached its duty of good faith and fair dealing.

The plaintiffs allege that their insurance policy was in effect on April 23, 2018, when their home, at 5541 SW 8 Ct., Margate, in Florida, was damaged by a tornado. The defendant did not fully compensate plaintiffs for all their damages, according to the lawsuit.

The plaintiffs hold Security First Insurance responsible, because they have had to hire an attorney and go to court to seek compensation, according to the lawsuit.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment against defendant for damages, plus interest, costs, and attorney's fees. They are represented by Jonathan R. Friedland of Friedland Law Group in Coral Gables.
