Customer alleges gas station owner's negligence caused injuries

ORLANDO — An Orange County man is suing a St. Petersburg gas station owner, alleging negligence caused injuries to the plaintiff.

Charles Bates filed a complaint July 5 in Orange County Circuit Court against Wawa Inc. alleging failure to exercise reasonable care for the plaintiff's safety.

According to the complaint, on April 6, 2017, Bates was a customer at the Wawa gas station, 4100 E. Colonial Drive, St. Petersburg, when he slipped and fell on the wet floor. He says he sustained injuries in and about his body and extremities, resulting in pain and suffering, disability, disfigurement and medical care and treatment expenses.

The plaintiff alleges Wawa failed to adequately inspect and maintain the floor, thus creating an unreasonably dangerous condition and failed to adequately correct the same.

Bates seeks trial by jury, damages in excess of $15,000, plus interest and court costs. He is represented by attorney Michael Vaughn of Morgan & Morgan PA in Orlando.
