ORLANDO — A tenant is suing an Orlando apartment management company, alleging breach of a lease agreement in failing to maintain sanitary conditions.

Noreen Renier filed a complaint June 22 in Orange County Circuit Court against Kinneret Inc., Carteret Management Corporation and Green Rey Resources LLC, alleging the defendants failed to maintain a safe and sanitary premise for tenants.

According to the complaint, in 2014, Renier notified the defendants of the presence of a suspicious black substance inside the apartment she occupied at 515 S. Delaney Ave., Unit 1109, Orlando. However, Renier says, the conditions inside her unit were s not resolved, causing her to seek medical treatment for symptoms attributed to the diminished air quality in her residence, beginning in June 2015 and continuing as recently as May 2017.

As a result, Renier says she continues to be plagued with illness as a result of the hazardous conditions that remain in the property owned and operated by the defendants.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to comply with the applicable federal, state and local laws, including health, housing and building codes, and failed to deliver the premise in a sanitary condition to tenants.

Renier seeks trial by jury, monetary damages of more than $15,000, costs of action and all other relief the court deems proper. She is represented by attorney Rasheed Karim Allen of Orlando.
