ORLANDO — An Orlando property owner is suing an insurance company, alleging breach of an insurance contract.

Margarita Rodriguez filed a complaint June 22 in Orange County Circuit Court against Security First Insurance Company, alleging the insurer failed to honor its contractual obligation to pay for water damage.

According to the complaint, on Feb. 8, 2017, Rodriguez's property at 11441 Kenley Circle, Orlando, suffered a loss due to water damage from a plumbing leak or break. The damage, the suit says, was a covered peril under the Security First policy.

The plaintiff alleges Security First Insurance, despite acknowledging coverage of the loss, has refused to pay the total amount of damages.

Rodriguez seeks trial by jury, damages greater than $15,000, with interest, court costs and attorney fees. She is represented by attorneys Hunter Patterson, Alicia Perez and Michael Patrick of Strems Law Firm in Orlando.
