ORLANDO — A mother is suing an Orlando school facility, alleging breach of duty, intentional infliction of emotional distress, negligence and strict liability.

Mary Doe, as natural guardian and parent of Jane Doe, a minor, filed a complaint June 25 in Orange County Circuit Court against Lake Highland Preparatory School Inc., school president Ben David Rowe and upper school director Michael Jakubisin, alleging failure to protect students from harm due to harassment.

According to the complaint, Jane Doe was subjected to pain and suffering of both physical and mental nature, mental anguish, inconvenience and loss of enjoyment of life, as a result of the negligent conduct of the defendants. The suit says the school and its employees allowed an intimidating, hostile and offensive educational environment and to endanger the physical and emotional safety of Jane Doe.

The plaintiff alleges Lake Highland Preparatory School, Rowe and Jakubisin failed to to protect Jane Doe from conditions harmful to her learning and mental and/or physical health and safety, failed to ensure that each student is protected from harassment or discrimination, and failed to impose stricter disciplinary action.

Mary Doe seeks trial by jury, damages in excess of $15,000, plus court costs, interest and all just relief. She is represented by attorney Lawrence Gonzalez II of Morgan & Morgan PA in Orlando.
