ORLANDO — An Orange County man is suing an Orlando general store, alleging negligence caused injuries to the plaintiff.

Francis Chancellor of Apopka filed a complaint June 12 in Orange County Circuit Court against David Word, doing business as Reid’s Buy Sell & Trade Inc., alleging failure to maintain its premises in a safe condition.

According to the complaint, on Oct. 6, 2016, Chancellor was at Reid's Buy Sell & Trade on North Orange Blossom Trail in Orlando when he tripped and fell over a metal sheet in the store's parking lot. The suit says Chancellor sustained injuries in and about his body and extremities, resulting in pain and suffering, disability, disfigurement, permanent and significant scarring, mental anguish, medical expenses, loss of earnings and aggravation of pre-existing condition.

The plaintiff alleges Reid’s Buy Sell & Trade failed to adequately maintain the parking lot area by allowing the dangerous condition to exist, failed to adequately warn Chancellor of the dangerous condition, and failed to have adequate staff assigned to the task of inspecting the area.

Chancellor seeks trial by jury, damages in excess of $15,000, plus interest and court costs. He is represented by attorney Lawrence Gonzalez II of Morgan & Morgan PA in Orlando.
