ORLANDO — A visitor is suing Orlando apartment operators, alleging insufficient measures were taken to prevent injuries from an attack by an intruder.
Alecia D. Carter filed a complaint June 12 in Orange County Circuit Court against 5402 Pine Chase LLC, doing business as Avesta Rolling Hills, alleging they failed to provide a reasonably safe premises for residents, tenants and other persons lawfully on the property.
According to the complaint, ton June 15, 2014, Carter was lawfully upon the defendants' Avesta Rolling Hills Apartments when she was violently shot and severely injured by a criminal assailant. Carter says she sustained bodily injury and resulting pain and suffering, disability, disfigurement, mental anguish, hospitalization, medical care and treatment expenses and loss of earnings.
The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to provide adequate security, failed to hire and retain appropriately trained security guards and failed to address criminal activity at the premises.
Carter seeks trial by jury, damages of more than $15,000, costs, and all other proper and just relief. She is represented by attorney Tyrone A. King of King & Markman PA in Orlando.
