CLEARWATER — A Texas woman is suing a fishing boat charter, alleging of negligence because insufficient measures were taken to prevent injuries.
Gloria Schietzelt filed a complaint June 11 in Pinellas County Circuit Court against William H. Gilmore Inc., doing business as Double Eagle Deep Sea Fishing Inc,. alleging the defendant failed to exercise reasonable care in operating and maintaining the boat in a safe condition.
According to the complaint, on Oct. 23, 2016, Schietzelt was a paying passenger aboard the boat of Double Eagle docked at 25 Causeway Boulevard in Clearwater as part of a fishing charter. The suit says she tripped and fell because of a dock rope was lying across the bow.
Schietzelt alleges she suffered bodily injuries, pain, disfigurement, mental anguish, inconvenience, medical and hospital expenses and loss of earnings.
The plaintiff alleges Double Eagle Deep Sea Fishing negligently failed to exercise reasonable care in operating and maintaining the boat's premises in a safe condition for paying customers and guests.
Schietzelt seeks damages in excess of $15,000, exclusive of costs, interest, attorney fees and all other relief the court deems just and proper. She is represented by attorney Ernesto Santos of Halpern Santos and Pinkert, PA in Coral Gables.
