CLEARWATER — A power vessel manufacturer is suing a paint contractor, alleged breach of contract in not doing the job properly.

Pilini Marine Technologies LLC filed a complaint June 12 in Pinellas Circuit Court against Cory Randall France, alleging failure to paint a vessel in accordance with marine industry standards.

According to the complaint, in October 2017, the parties entered into a contract wherein France was to paint a 34-foot power catamaran with specific red color for $10,000. As a result of the defendant's negligence, the suit says, the plaintiff's customer returned the vessel and Pilini Marine was forced to refund the purchase price of $40,000.

The plaintiff alleges France painted the vessel too fast and without allotting proper dry time between the coats of paint.

Pilini Marine Technologies seeks trial by jury, damages of more than $15,000, court costs and all other relief the court deems proper. It is represented by attorney Jason A. Goldstein of Goldstein & Greenberg in St. Petersburg.
