CLEARWATER — A Seminole man is suing an insurer, alleging breach of an insurance contract.

William Harrell filed a complaint June 4 in Pinellas County Circuit Court against Citizens Property Insurance Corporation, alleging failure to pay for damages caused by a hurricane.

According to the complaint, on Sept. 10, 2017, Harrell's insured property at 11683 Groves St., Seminole, sustained substantial damages as a result of Hurricane Irma. Yet despite his prompt and timely notice of the claim to Citizen Property, the suit says, the defendant has failed to pay the full benefits due and owing to Harrell.

The plaintiff alleges Citizens Property Insurance has forced Harrell to engage the an attorney for the prosecution of legal action, and that the defendant has failed to pay plaintiff the full benefits due and owing for the covered losses.

Harrell seeks trial by jury, damages in excess of the jurisdictional limits of the court, plus attorney fees, court costs and prejudgment interest. He is represented by attorneys Jay M. Arnesen and Paris R. Webb of Arnesen Webb PA in Boca Raton.
