Lawsuits

CLEARWATER — A managing member of Sun Seair, a Pinellas Park mobile home development, is suing a resident, alleging slander and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

Robert Kurens of Westchester County, New York, filed a complaint May 29 in Pinellas County Circuit Court against Audrey Worsley alleging the defendant knowingly provided verbal statements containing false, injurious and defamatory allegations.

According to the complaint, between Sept. 7, 2017 and April 12, 2018, Kurens received verbal statements containing false, injurious and defamatory allegations from Worsley. The suit says, in different occasions, Worsley campaigned to disparage and injure the plaintiff's reputation with members of the community and the public in general. Kurens says the statements are patently false and, as a result, he suffered damages to his person and reputation, emotional distress and anxiety.

The plaintiff alleges Worsley verbally communicated false and damaging statements to the public with willful, wanton, malicious intent and in complete and reckless disregard for other's rights and reputation.

Kurens seeks trial by jury, damages exceeding $15,000, exclusive of interest, court costs, attorney fees and all other relief deemed appropriate by the court. He is represented by attorney Steven N. Tsangaris of Tsangaris Law Group PL in Tarpon Springs.
