Orlando resident alleges insurer failed to cover damages

ORLANDO — An Orlando woman is suing an an insurer, alleging breach of contract.

Deborah Ramos filed a complaint May 23 in Orange County Circuit Court against ASI Preferred Insurance Corp. alleging failure to cover damages caused by a hurricane. .

According to the complaint, on Sept. 10, 2017, Ramos' dwelling, 17738 Sterling Pond Lane, Orlando, sustained damages from Hurricane Irma during the policy period. Although Ramos says she complied with all conditions precedent to entitle her to recover under the policy, ASI allegedly breached the insurance contract by refusing to provide coverage for the loss. 

The plaintiff alleges ASI Preferred Insurance failed or refused to fully perform under the policy, failed to fully pay for all of Ramos' losses as required by the insurance policy, and obligated Ramos to pay for attorney services in bringing legal action.

Ramos seeks trial by jury, damages of more than $15,000, plus interest on any overdue payments, attorney fees and costs. She is represented by attorney James J. Dye of Morgan & Morgan PA in Orlando.
