CLEARWATER — A Safety Harbor couple is suing Hartford Insurance, alleging breach of contract.

Margaret Solomon and Herman Solomon filed a complaint May 22 in Pinellas Circuit Court against Hartford Insurance Company of the Midwest, alleging failure to cover damages from a possible sinkhole.

According to the complaint, on May 2, 2017, the Solomons suffered damages to their property at 3113 Hillside Lane, Safety Harbor, as a result of a possible sinkhole, covered peril. However, the suit says, Hartford has refused to allow coverage and pay the plaintiffs the benefits to which they are entitled.

The plaintiffs allege Hartford Insurance of the Midwest has failed to acknowledge the covered loss, and failed to pay full cost of remediation and repair the property.

The Solomons seek trial by jury, damages of more than $15,000, interest, court costs, expert fees, attorney fees, and all further relief the court deems just. They are represented by attorney A. Lee Smith of Smith, Kling & Thompson PA in Tampa.
