ORLANDO — A Winter Park tenant is suing a landlord, alleging insufficient measures were taken to prevent mold infestation and subsequent injuries.
Harvey Goods filed a complaint May 17 in Orange County Circuit Court against Scott Parker, alleging failure to exercise reasonable care in maintaining a premises free from hazardous conditions.
According to the complaint, between Jan. 15, 2017, and Feb. 20, 2018, Goods was a paying tenant on a month-to-month lease at residential unit No. 218, 14200 Avalon Road in Winter Garden, which was owned by the Parker. The suit says the leased unit was infected with mold, which caused Goods severe illness, physical injuries, medical expenses, mental anguish and loss of income.
The plaintiff alleges Parker negligently failed to maintain and/or adequately maintain the leased unit to keep it free from mold infestation, which can be dangerous to tenants.
Goods seeks trial by jury, damages exceeding $15,000, exclusive of interest, attorney fees, court costs and all other relief the court deems just and proper. He is represented by Alberto E. Lugo-Janer of CPLS PA in Orlando.
