ORLANDO — A Florida resident is suing Geovera Specialty Insurance Co. for breach of good faith and fair dealing as part of a coverage dispute.

Manuel Sanchez filed a complaint on May 16 in the Orange Circuit Court against Geovera Specialty Insurance.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff's property sustained a covered loss resulting from a plumbing defect on June 14, 2017, while his insurance policy was still allegedly in full force and effect. The lawsuit said the amount of damages was greater than the amount acknowledged by the defendant.

The plaintiff holds Geovera Specialty Insurance responsible because it allegedly failed to acknowledge coverage for the loss, failed to acknowledge that payment would be forthcoming and failed to make any payment of insurance proceeds.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the insurer for damages, plus interest, court costs and attorney’s fees. He is represented by Juan E. Mourin of The Law Offices of Grey & Mourin PA in Miami.
