Largo driver alleges another motorist caused crash

Car accident 03

CLEARWATER — A Largo motorist is suing another driver, alleging negligence reckless conduct in causing a vehicle crash.

Thomas J. Horton filed a complaint May 8 in Pinellas County Circuit Court against Lauren M. Godfrey, alleging the defendant negligently and carelessly operated or maintained a motor vehicle.

According to the complaint, on Nov. 13, 2017, Horton was driving eastbound on Seminole Boulevard at or near its intersection with Ulmerton Road in Largo, when Godfrey's vehicle collided with his car. As a result, Horton says, he suffered bodily injuries, pain, disability, expenses of hospitalization and treatment and damages to property and loss of the ability to earn money.

The plaintiff alleges Godfrey failed to exercise reasonable care in operating or maintaining a motor vehicle, endangering the lives of other motorists.

Horton seeks trial by jury, damages exceeding $15,000, exclusive of interest, court costs, attorney fees and all other relief the court deems just and proper. He is represented by attorneys Christopher A. Boyd and James T. Butler of Butler & Boyd, PA in Tampa.
