ORLANDO — A husband and wife are suing the manufacturer of an air compressor, alleging strict liability, loss of consortium and negligence.
Glenn and Geanne Best filed a complaint May 7 in Orange County Circuit Court against Roberts Equipment Service Inc., doing business as Florida Equipment Service Inc., alleging failure to provide an air compressor product that met professional standards of safety and quality.
According to the complaint, on Dec. 16, 2016, Glenn Best was using an Atlas Copco GX 11 air compressor at a customer site in Orlando. The suit says improper and mismatched parts immediately blew off the compressor equipment and struck him in the eye.
Best says he sustained injuries to his brain and right eye, facial trauma, incurred medical expenses, lost wages, mental anguish, pain and suffering and inconvenience. The lawsuit blames the injuries on Florida Equipment's negligence in shipping a defective air compressor to the plaintiff with improper and mismatched parts. Additionally, Geanne Best says she has suffered the loss of her husband's services, comfort, society and attention because of the injuries he sustained.
The plaintiffs allege Florida Equipment Service failed to provide instructions for proper installation of the compressor, failed to provide the proper part in the service kit, and failed to properly monitor, test and perform for quality assurance.
The Bests seeks trial by jury, damages of more than $15,000, interest, costs of action and all other relief available. They are represented by attorneys John V. Colvin and Thomas E. Mooney of Mooney Colvin PL in Orlando.
