Bicycle rider alleges motorist ran him over

CLEARWATER — A Pinellas County bicycle rider is suing a motorist, alleging insufficient measures were taken to prevent injuries to the cyclist.

James Coney Jr. filed a complaint May 4 in the Pinellas County Circuit Court against William F. Hedman, alleging that the driver negligently operated a motor vehicle.

According to the complaint, on Nov. 11, 2016, Coney he was riding his bike in Pinellas County when Hedman's motor vehicle collided with him. Coney said the collision caused bodily injuries, suffering, disability, mental anguish, damages to property, expense of hospitalization, medical care and treatment and aggravation of previously existing conditions. 

The plaintiff alleges Hedman negligently operated a motor vehicle, causing it to collide with the cyclist.

Coney seeks trial by jury, damages that exceed $15,000, plus costs, interest, attorney fees, and all further relief the court deems just and proper. He is represented by attorney Robert J. Healy Jr. of Salter, Healy LLC in St. Petersburg.
