Winter Park property owner alleges insurer failed to cover hurricane damage

Insurance 03

ORLANDO — A Winter Park property owner is suing an insurance company, alleging breach of contract.

Lynette Davidson filed a complaint April 30 in Orange County Circuit Court against Security First Insurance Company, doing business as Security First Florida, alleging failure to cover damages caused by a hurricane.

According to the complaint, on Sept. 11, 2017, while the insurance policy for her property at Winter Park was in full force and effect, the residence was damaged by the storm forces of Hurricane Irma.

The suit says Security First has refused to provide coverage for Davidson's  loss.

The plaintiff alleges Security First Florida has failed to properly pay the claim pursuant to the terms and conditions of the insurance policy, and required Davidson to retain the services of an attorney to bring legal action.

Davidson seeks trial by jury, compensatory damages of more than $15,000, interest, costs and attorney fees. She is represented by attorney Ty Tyler of Tyler & Hamilton PA in Jacksonville.
