FORT LAUDERDALE – The owner of a Lauderdale Lakes property alleges her insurer failed to pay the actual cash value of her claim.

Marie Francois filed a complaint on April 24 in the Broward County Circuit Court against Universal Property & Casualty Insurance Co. alleging breach of insurance policy.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Sept. 10, 2017, her property sustained a covered loss due to a hurricane. The  plaintiff claims the policy with the defendant on the property was in full force and effect while the premises sustained the loss and all premiums were paid.

The plaintiff holds Universal Property & Casualty Insurance Co.responsible because the defendant allegedly refused to pay the actual cash value of the claim.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages of more than $15,000, plus statutory interest, attorneys’ fees, costs and any such other and further relief as the court deems just and appropriate. She is represented by Robert A. Reynolds of Duboff Law Firm in North Miami.
