ORLANDO — An employee is suing Walt Disney, alleging racial discrimination and sexual discrimination.

Michael Berry filed a complaint April 23 in Orange County Circuit Court against Walt Disney Parks and Resorts USA Inc. alleging violation of Florida law.

According to the complaint, Berry, 61, a military veteran, has worked for Disney since 1996. The suit says in March 2017, Disney denied him promotion to security manager despite his meeting the requirements for the position.

The plaintiff alleges Walt Disney Parks and Resorts USA denied Berry to advance from the promotional process to the interview phase because of his age. The suit says Disney treated more favorably an employee, 45, who was much younger and did not possess the leadership experience required for the job.

Berry seeks trial by jury, damages in excess of $15,000, plus costs, interest, attorney fees and all other relief provided for by law. He is represented by attorney Jerry Girley of The Girley Law Firm PA in Orlando.
