FORT LAUDERDALE — A former employee is suing McDonald's, alleging assault, battery, gender discrimination, negligence, retaliation and sexual harassment.

Ruthlourne Morency filed a complaint on April 26, in the Broward Circuit Court against McDonald's Corporation, Upchurch Management Company and Marckenes Goman, alleging she was punished for complaining about a sexual assault.

According to the complaint, Morency began working for McDonald's as a cashier Dec. 30, 2015. The suit says she was constructively discharged by McDonald's Sept. 17, 2016, in retaliation for reporting the illegal conduct of Gorman, her supervisor, who physically assaulted her after she refused to have sex with him..

Morency says she has suffered physical and psychological injuries, including anguish, pain and suffering and loss of dignity.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to properly investigate and remedy her allegations and complaints of workplace violence.

Morency seeks trial by jury, damages of more than $15,000, back pay, benefits adjustment, interest, compensatory damages, reinstatement, costs of action, attorney fees, and all additional relief the court deems just. She is represented by attorney Anthony M. Georges-Pierre of Remer & Georges-Pierre PLLC in Miami.
