FORT LAUDERDALE — A Pembroke Pines homeowner is suing an insurance carrier, alleging breach of contract.
Anne Abraham filed a complaint April 12 in Broward Circuit Court against American Security Insurance Company, alleging failure to cover damages caused by a hurricane.
According to the complaint, on Sept. 10, 2017, Abraham sustained economic damages, including damaged property and repair costs, when her home at 7430 Northwest First Court, Pembroke Pines was substantially damaged by Hurricane Irma while her insurance policy was in full force and effect.
However, the suit says, American Security has sent correspondence to Abraham, denying coverage of the claim due to a purported exclusion in the policy and said only a small partial payment will be paid.
Abraham alleges American Security Insurance has failed to timely evaluate the insurance claim, and failed to make full payment toward Abraham's covered losses.
Abraham seeks trial by jury, actual damages of more than $15,000, interest, attorney fees, costs and all further relief deemed just. She is represented by attorney Dustin Hite of Litigation & Recovery Law Center PL in North Miami Beach.
