Resident alleges nursing home's negligence led to decline in health

Medical malpractice 02

CLEARWATER — A resident is suing a Clearwater nursing home facility, alleging breach of duty and negligence.

Delores Carey Williams, by and through Colette Major, attorney-in-fact, filed a complaint April 9 in Pinellas County Circuit Court against ARC Countryside LLC, American Retirement Corporation and administrator Maria Mansilla,  alleging the defendants failed to hire, train and supervise employees to deliver care and services to residents in a safe and beneficial manner.

According to the complaint, between Dec. 9, 2016, and Aug. 30, 2017, Williams sustained injuries while a resident at the Bookdale Countryside assisted living facility in Clearwater. Williams says she suffered bedsores, falls and a significant decline in her overall health and well-being as the defendants failed to attend to her needs and treat the significant changes in her condition.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to provide a safe environment, failed to provide staff and services sufficient to meet Williams' daily needs and failed to monitor significant signs and symptoms of change in her condition.

Williams seeks trial by jury, damages and costs, plus all other relief the court deems appropriate. She is represented by attorneys James B. McHugh, Michael J. Fuller, Jr. and Anthony Lance Reins of McHugh Fuller Law Group, PLLC in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
