Customer alleges Wal-Mart negligence caused fall

Slip01

ORLANDO — A Jacksonville woman is suing Wal-Mart, alleging negligence caused her to fall and sustain injuries.

Jessica Garces filed a complaint March 30 in Orange County Circuit Court against Wal-Mart Stores East LP, alleging failure to maintain its premises in a safe condition.

According to the complaint, on June 16, 2017, Garces was shopping at the Wal-Mart store, 8990 Turkey Lane Road, Plantation. The suit says Garces slipped and fell due to an excessive amount of liquid that was allowed to remain on the floor of the store. As a result, Garces says, she suffered bodily injury, disfigurement, mental anguish, inconvenience, loss of earnings and aggravation of a previous existing condition.

The plaintiff alleges Wal-Mart Stores East failed to warn her of the dangerous slippery floor and failed to maintain the floor in a safe condition.

Garces seeks trial by jury, compensatory damages of more than $15,000, plus court costs and all other relief the court deems proper. She is represented by attorneys M. Bradford Stackhouse and Kelli Pruner of Ronald E. Sholes PA in Palatka.
