Policy holder alleges insurance company failed to cover water damage

ORLANDO — An Orlando property owner is suing an insurance company, alleging breach of contract.

Eduardo Jimenez filed a complaint March 29 in Orange County Circuit Court against Security First Insurance Company, alleging failure to honor and comply with its contractual obligations.

According to the complaint, on Dec. 8, 2017, Jimenez's property at 130 N. Fieldstream N. Blvd., Orlando, was damaged by a sudden plumbing leak, causing water damage to the property. Jimenez says he timely reported the loss to Security First but has failed to be fully indemnified and completely compensated for his loss. .

The plaintiff alleges Security First Insurance has failed to pay Jimenez for the damages caused by the loss and has failed to fully indemnify though the loss that is covered under the policy, thus breaching the policy.

Jimenez seeks trial by jury, damages of more than $15,000, plus attorney fees, costs, prejudgment interest and all additional relief the court deems just and proper. He is represented by attorney Aaron S. Bass of Silver, Bass & Brams, PA in West Palm Beach.
