FORT LAUDERDALE — A Broward County condominium board director is suing a husband and wife, alleging defamation.

Phil Cordell, who lives at The Venetian, filed a complaint March 23 in Broward Circuit Court against Mary Ann Massad and Jonathan Murphy, alleging they sent false and misleading information to other board members.

According to the complaint, Cordell suffered damages to his reputation, trade and profession, as a result of the false and defamatory statements in the defendants' e-mail messages in their attempt to force Cordell to resign from the board.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants made false allegations against Cordell that subjected him to hatred, distrust, ridicule, contempt or disgrace, and falsely charged him with misogyny.

Cordell seeks trial by jury, general, special and punitive damages greater than $15,000, attorney fees and court costs, and other relief the court deems just. He is represented by attorneys Leah H. Mayersohn and Sai Kornsuwan of Mayersohn Law Group PA in Fort Lauderdale.
