Husband blames sues medical facility for the sudden death of his wife

Medical malpractice 08

CLEARWATER — A widower is suing Pinellas County health care providers, alleging medical negligence resulted in the sudden death of his wife.

Fred Fogg, as personal representative of the estate of Myra Fogg, deceased, filed a complaint March 16 in Pinellas County Circuit Court against Dr. John M. Clarke, physician assistant Jill Tornyos Parks and Community Hospital Family Practice LLC, doing business as Palms Surgical Associates, alleging the defendants failed to exercise the appropriate level of care and skill for health care providers.

According to the complaint, on July 1, 2016, 10 days after being admitted to the defendants' Palms of Pasadena Hospital, Myra Fogg was found unresponsive in bed with copious amounts of gastric secretions coming out of her mouth and nose. Fred Fogg alleges his wife's death could have been prevented had she been properly diagnosed and cared for by the defendants.

As a result, Fred Frog says he has lost the support and services of his wife, suffered mental pain and incurred medical or funeral expenses.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to properly manage a bowel obstruction, failed to consider alternatives to alleviate the small bowel obstruction, including surgery, and failed to provide adequate and appropriate operative and post-operative care as the patient's condition deteriorated over an eight-day period.

Fred Fogg seeks trial by jury, damages of more than $15,000, court costs, interest and all other relief the court deems just. He is represented by attorneys Andrew F. Knopf, Robin Treto and Joshua D. Wright of Paul Knoff Bigger in St. Petersburg.
