Largo homeowner alleges insurer failed to provide coverage

Insurance 06

CLEARWATER — A Largo homeowner is suing an insurance company, alleging breach of contract.

Kristina Kustera filed a complaint March 13 in Pinellas Circuit Court against Citizens Property Insurance Corporation, alleging failure to provide for a covered loss.

According to the complaint, on Jan. 1, 2017, while the insurance policy issued by Citizens Property was in full force and effect, Kustera's property at 7360 Ulmerton Road, Apt. 28A, Largo, suffered a covered loss. The suit says although, the defendant investigated the loss and acknowledged coverage, it underestimated the replacement cost of the loss.

The plaintiff alleges Citizens Property Insurance breached the policy contract by failing to pay the full insurance proceeds due Kustera.

Kustera seeks trial by jury, damages in excess of $15,000. She is represented by attorney Hans Peter Haahr of Haahr Law Group PL in St. Petersburg.
