FORT LAUDERDALE — Hollywood homeowners are suing an insurance company, alleging breach of contract.
David and Carol Mangiero filed a complaint March 9 in Broward Circuit Court against Tower Hill Signature Insurance Company, alleging failure to pay for damages caused by Hurricane Irma.
According to the complaint, on Sept. 10, 2017, the Mangieros sustained economic damages, including damaged property and repair costs, when their property at 5025 Buchanan St., Hollywood, was substantially damaged by Hurricane Irma while their insurance policy was in full force and effect. Although, the suit says, Tower Hill issued a payment to the plaintiffs, the amount was insufficient to cover all damages.
The plaintiffs allege Tower Hill Signature Insurance failed to issue further payment of the Mangieros' claim, and failed to fully pay for the cost to reimburse, repair or replace damages to the plaintiffs' property.
The Mangieros seek trial by jury, damages of at least $15,000, interest, attorney fees and court costs. They are represented by attorney Michael Kaplan of Kaplan Law Group PA in Hollywood.
