Customer blames Clearwater T.J. Maxx store for injuries

CLEARWATER — A Pinellas County woman is suing a Clearwater department store, alleging negligence in allowing a liquid substance remain on its floor, leading to injuries for the plaintiff.

Liza Nikac filed a complaint Feb. 27 in Pinellas County Circuit Court against The TJX Companies Inc., doing business as T.J. Maxx in Clearwater, alleging failure to exercise reasonable care in removing a hazardous condition.

According to the complaint, on Sept. 21, 2014, Nikac was a customer at the T.J. Maxx, 2541 Countryside Blvd. when she slipped and fell on a hazardous liquid while walking between departments. As a result, Nikac says, she sustained injuries. pain and suffering, disfigurement and mental anguish and incurred medical expenses. 

The plaintiff alleges TJX Companies failed to correct this hazardous condition and failed to adequately warn of its existence and danger.

Nikas seeks trial by jury, damages of more than $15,000, plus court costs and all other just relief. She is represented by attorneys Thomas D. Roebig, Jr. and Chad K. Florin of Florin Roebig PA in Palm Harbor.
