ORLANDO — The Orange County parents of a minor child are suing the Orlando Science Center, alleging negligence in allowing a hazardous condition remain on the premises.

Sherry Rendell and Stephen Robertson, as parents and guardians of minor, Abigail Robertson, filed a complaint Feb. 26 in Orange County Circuit Court against Orlando Science Center Inc., alleging failure to maintain its premises in a reasonably safe condition for the use by its invitees.

According to the complaint, Nov. 11, 2016, Abigail Robertson was playing on a climbing wall on the playground of the science center. The suit says her foot or leg became caught and she sustained severe bodily injury, leading to pain, suffering, significant scarring and mental anguish. As a result, the parents say they have sustained the expense of hospitalization, medical and nursing care and treatment, loss of earnings and mental anguish.

The plaintiffs allege Orlando Science Center failed to  adequately maintain the climbing wall on the playground in a reasonably safe condition, creating an unreasonably dangerous condition to members of the public.

Rendell and Robertson seek trial by jury, damages that exceed $15,000, exclusive of interest, court costs and attorney fees. They are represented by attorney Jason P. Herman of Dan Newlin & Partners in Orlando.
