Guest blames Clearwater property owner for water leak, injuries

CLEARWATER — A guest is suing a Clearwater hotel, alleging negligence caused injuries to the plaintiff.

Lester Krieger filed a complaint on Feb. 20, in the Pinellas Circuit Court against Town Suites Roosevelt Boulevard LLC, doing business as In Town Suites, alleging failure to follow applicable safety guidelines and regulations.

According to the complaint, on Aug. 8, 2015, Krieger was on defendant's premises 2833 Roosevelt Blvd., Clearwater, as a guest. The suit says a leak from the roof above caused a puddle in Krieger's room. Krieger says when he got up in the middle of the night, he was caused to slip and fall due to the hazardous and slippery condition.

The suit says Krieger sustained bodily injury and resulting pain and suffering, disability, disfigurement, mental anguish, loss of capacity for the enjoyment of life, medical expenses and loss of earnings.

The plaintiff alleges In Town Suites failed to warn him of the hazardous, defective and unsafe condition of the roof, and failed to provide a safe, unobstructed ingress and egress to the restroom.

Krieger seeks trial by jury, damages in excess of $15,000, exclusive of interest and court costs. He is represented by attorney Andy B. Steingold of Maney & Gordon PA in Tampa.
