ORLANDO — A Texas couple is suing Fairfield Inn property owners in Orlando, alleging loss of consortium and negligence in the assault of the husband.
Armando and Lydia Alaniz filed a complaint Feb. 16 in Orange County Circuit Court against Avista Properties XI LLC, doing business as Fairfield Inn & Suites Orlando International Drive/Convention Center, alleging the property owner failed to provide a safe environment for its guests.
According to the complaint, on Aug. 12, 2015, Armando and Lydia Alaniz were lawfully at Fairfield Inn & Suites Orlando. The suit says Armando Alaniz was assaulted, robbed, carjacked and kidnapped at gun point by assailants in the Fairfield Inn parking lot at 8214 Universal Blvd. As a result, the suit says, Alaniz suffered damages, mental anguish, humiliation, grief, inconvenience, disability, and incurred medical expense. Lydia Alaniz says she suffered the loss of support, services, society and consortium of her husband.
The plaintiffs allege Fairfield Inn & Suites Orlando International Drive/Convention Center failed to provide efficient security detail, and failed to warn the couple of the potential for assault on the grounds, and failed to provided adequate lighting in the parking lot.
Armando and Lydia Alaniz seek trial by jury, damages of more than $15,000, plus costs, interest and all other relief the court deems just. They are represented by attorney Brian T. Wilson of Dellecker Wilson King McKenna Ruffier & Sos in Orlando.
