ORLANDO — A parent is suing the county school board, alleging negligence led to injuries for the plaintiff's child.

Mattthew Musante filed a complaint Feb. 15 in Orange County Circuit Court against Orange County School Board, alleging that the school administration failed to follow applicable safety guidelines and regulations.

According to the complaint, on Nov. 6, 2014, his minor child, playing football in an undesignated area, struck his face against a metal pole. The suit says the child sustained permanent injuries, physical impairment, disfigurement, mental anguish, inconvenience, aggravation of an existing condition, and incurred medical expenses.

The plaintiff alleges the school board failed to implement policies and procedures to reduce and/or eliminate the risk of the injuries, and allowed minors to remain in an undesignated area.

Musante seeks trial by jury, damages that exceed $15,000 exclusive of interest, court costs and attorney fees, plus all other relief deemed proper by the court. He is represented by attorney Joshua A. Machlus of Colling Gilbert Wright & Carter LLC in Orlando.
