Insurance 05

ORLANDO — Two Orlando property owners are suing an insurance company, alleging breach of contract.

James and Christine Minnear filed a complaint Feb. 8 in Orange County Circuit Court against American Integrity Insurance Company of Florida, alleging failure to cover damages from a hurricane.

According to the complaint, between Sept. 9-11, 2017, the Minnears' property at 4002 Bounce Drive, Orlando, under a homeowners insurance policy, sustained a covered loss due Hurricane Irma. However, despite efforts of the plaintiffs to comply with all post-loss obligations, the suit says American Integrity has denied the plaintiffs' claim.

The plaintiffs allege hold American Integrity Insurance has refused to pay to replace and/or repair the Minnears' dwelling and obligated them to retain the services of an attorney.

James and Christine Minnear seek trial by jury, damages of more than $15,000, judgment for all covered losses with interest on any overdue payments, attorney fees and court costs. They are represented by attorney H. Xavier Carrera of The Nation Law Firm LLP in Longwood.
