CLEARWATER — A Pinellas County man is suing a South Pasadena owners association, alleging negligence caused the plaintiff to suffer injuries in a sauna.

Sebastian Caliendo filed a complaint Feb. 7 in Pinellas Circuit Court against Sailboat Key Property Owners Association Inc., alleging the property operator failed to maintain its premises in a safe condition.

According to the complaint, on Sept. 3, 2016, was using the defendant's sauna at 7911 Sailboat Key Blvd., South Pasadena. The suit says Caliendo sustained bodily injury, pain and suffering, disability, inconvenience, scarring, mental anguish and incurred medical and related expenses, due to the defendant's negligence  in allowing a metal sauna heater that becomes extremely hot without any barrier protection to exist where its guests, like Caliendo, can be harmed.

The plaintiff alleges Sailboat Key Property Owners Association failed to install a cover, barrier, or some other similar mechanism around the sauna heater to protect invitees, and failed to install slip-resistant flooring on the steps to prevent invitees from slipping on the wet steps and into contact with the dangerous water heater.

Caliendo seeks trial by jury, damages of more than $15,000, plus court costs and all other just relief. He is represented by attorneys Thomas D. Roebig Jr., Nicholas S. Costantino, Shaun M. Cummings, Luca G. Esposito, Chase P. Florin and Chad K. Florin of Florin Roebig PA in Palm Harbor.
