CLEARWATER — A Pinellas County woman is suing Walgreens, alleging negligence caused her to suffer injuries.

Billye Lue Giles filed a complaint Feb. 2 in Pinellas Circuit Court against Walgreens Co., alleging failure to use due care to maintain its premises in a safe condition.

According to the complaint, on Feb. 25, 2017, Giles was at the Walgreens store, 6560 Ulmerton Road, Largo. The suit says she tripped and fell over store baskets near the frozen food section that were negligently placed. Giles says the fall caused her bone fractures, disability, inconvenience, scarring, mental anguish, aggravation of an existing condition and led to medical expenses.

The plaintiff alleges Walgreens failed to properly maintain the flooring, failed to warn Giles of the dangerous condition and failed to make a reasonable inspection of its premises.

Giles seeks trial by jury, damages of more than $15,000, interest, court costs, attorney fees and all other just relief. She is represented by attorneys Jay Kovar and Sean Saval of Kovar Law Group in Gulfport.
