Orlando property owner alleges insurance carrier failed to pay for damages

ORLANDO — An Orlando property owner is suing an insurance carrier, alleging breach of contract.

Elizabeth Singh filed a complaint Feb. 1 in Orange County Circuit Court against ASI Assurance Corp. alleging the insurance carrier failed to cover damages caused by Hurricane Irma.

According to the complaint, on Sept. 9, 2017, while Singh's property's insurance was in full force and effect, her home at 8312 Honolulu Drive, Orlando, sustained covered damages from Hurricane Irma. However, the suit says, ASI has refused to provide coverage for the plaintiff's losses.

The plaintiff alleges ASI Assurance has refused to fully perform under the policy, failed to fully value Singh's losses and failed to fully pay for all the plaintiff’s losses.

Singh seeks trial by jury, judgment of at least $15,000 for the plaintiff’s losses plus interest on any overdue payments, attorney fees and court costs. She is represented by attorney Roger A. Hatfield of Morgan & Morgan PA in Orlando.
