Orlando property owner alleges insurance carrier failed to cover hurricane damage

Insurance 11

ORLANDO — An Orlando property owner is suing an insurance company, alleging breach of contract.

Vilvales Delices filed a complaint Feb. 1 in Orange County Circuit Court against American Integrity Insurance Company of Florida, alleging failure to cover damages from a hurricane.

According to the complaint, on Sept. 11, 2017, Delices' dwelling, 1202 Chesterton Ave., Orlando, sustained damage due to winds from Hurricane Irma. Although Delices says he has complied with all conditions to entitle him to recover under the policy, American Integrity has refused to pay for all the plaintiff's covered losses.

The plaintiff alleges American Integrity Insurance of Florida has refused to pay for his claim, and forced Delices to retain the services of an attorney to bring action.

Delices seeks trial by jury, judgment for all covered losses with interest on any overdue payments, damages of at least $15,000, attorney fees and court costs. He is represented by attorney Bradford L. Stewart of The Nation Law Firm LLP in Lakeland.
