A Florida resident is suing wood flooring manufacturer for negligence

ORLANDO — A Florida man is suing a wood flooring manufacturer, alleging negligence and strict liability.

Leo Marquis of Apopka filed a complaint Jan. 25 in Orange County Circuit Court against Shaw Industries Inc., alleging the defendant failed to follow applicable safety guidelines and regulations.

According to the complaint, on Jan. 6, 2016, Marquis sustained losses, including serious and permanent physical injuries as a result of Shaw's negligent design and/or manufacture of the wood flooring. at his home, 1661 Palm Beach Driver, Apopka. 

The plaintiff alleges Shaw Industries failed to warn him of the defective wood flooring, and failed to maintain adequate construction and design of the wood flooring.

Marquis seeks trial by jury, damages in excess of $15,000, exclusive of interest, court costs and attorney fees, plus all further relief the court deems appropriate. He is represented by attorney Jon Lambe of Ferderigos & Lambe in Winter Park.
