ORLANDO — An Orlando property owner is suing an insurance company, alleging breach of contract regarding coverage for hurricane damage.
Juanita Hernandez filed a complaint Jan. 23 in Orange County Circuit Court against United Property & Casualty Insurance Company, alleging the defendant failed to comply with the provisions agreed to on the insurance policy.
According to the complaint, on Sept. 10, 2017, Hernandez suffered damage to her residence at 7202 Boice St., Orlando, as a result of Hurricane Irma. Hernandez says she filed all necessary forms and performed all conditions needed to recover under the policy issued by United Property but has failed to receive any insurance coverage.
The plaintiff alleges United Property & Casualty Insurance has refused to fully pay the claim filed by the policy owner as covered under the loss.
Hernandez seeks trial by jury, damages of more than $15,000, interest, court costs, and attorney fees. She is represented by attorney David R. Heil of Winter Park.
