Customer blames transportation company for injuries

Slip02

ORLANDO — A customer is suing a transportation authority, alleging negligence led to injuries for the plaintiff.

Doris Hayes filed a complaint Jan. 22 in Orange County Circuit Court against Central Florida Regional Transportation Authority, doing business as Lynx, alleging failure to provide a safe and secure environment.

According to the complaint, on Jan. 26, 2014, Hayes was at the defendant's bus terminal in Orlando. The suit says Hayes tripped on a mat that had fallen into disrepair, causing her to sustain bodily injury, pain and suffering, disability, mental anguish and medical expenses.

The plaintiff alleges Lynx allowed a trip hazard to exist in its premises and failed to repair, maintain and inspect all areas inside the bus terminal.

Hayes seeks trial by jury and damages in excess of $15,000. She is represented by attorney David R. Heil of Winter Park.
