Customer blames Wal-Mart for fall, injuries

CLEARWATER — A Pinellas County man is suing Wal-Mart, alleging negligence in allowing a dangerous condition in its premises.

William Henderson filed a complaint Jan. 23 in Pinellas County Circuit Court against Wal-Mart Stores East LP, alleging failure to to keep its property in a reasonably safe condition.

According to the complaint, on Oct. 18, 2016, Henderson was legally at the Wal-Mart store, 3501 34th St. N., St. Petersburg. The suit says he stepped on a piece of cardboard lying on the floor, causing him to fall backward and sustain severe injuries.

The plaintiff alleges Wal-Mart Stores East failed to inspect the premises for a dangerous condition and failed to warn of the dangerous condition.

Henderson seeks trial by jury, damages of more then $15,000, including costs and all other relief the court deems appropriate. He is represented by attorney R. Stanley Gipe of Papa & Gipe, PA in Clearwater.
