Customer blames Save-A-Lot store for injuries

CLEARWATER — A Pinellas County woman is suing a local grocery store, alleging negligence in allowing big cans to hit customers, causing injuries.

Jan Lorraine Roberts filed a complaint Jan. 23 in Pinellas County Circuit Cour against Moran Foods LLC, doing business as Save-A-Lot, alleging failure to protect customers from foreseeable dangers.

According to the complaint, on Oct. 10, 2016, Roberts was shopping at a Save-A-Lot store in Pinellas County when a stocking cart fell over, causing big cans to roll off the cart and hitting the plaintiff. Roberts says she fell violently to the ground, leading to severe injuries, pain and suffering and hospitalization. 

The plaintiff alleges Save-A-Lot failed to provide a reasonably safe premises for business invitees.

Roberts seeks trial by jury, damages in excess of $15,000, plus court costs. She is represented by attorneys Ted Starr and Aaron Binns of Starr Law Offices PA in Pinellas Park.
