Father blames Publix for son's concussion

CLEARWATER — A father of a minor child is suing a Publix supermarket, alleging negligence led to the child suffering injuries. 

Timothy Hawkins, individually, and as guardian for C.H., a minor, filed a complaint Jan. 22 in Pinellas County Circuit Court against Public Super Markets Inc., alleging the defendants failed provide a reasonably safe place for its patrons to walk.

According to the complaint, on Sept. 29, 2017, Hawkins and his son entered the Publix at 7333 Park Blvd. N. Pinellas Park. The suit say C.H. slipped and fell in a puddle of water in or around the bakery department, causing him suffer a concussion among other injuries. 

Timothy Hawkins says due to the injuries, his minor child has been suffering adverse effects, including difficulties with to his normal day-to-day activities, plus medical expenses. 

The plaintiff alleges Public Super Markets failed to rectify a dangerous condition on the premises.

Hawkins seeks trial by jury, damages of more than $15,000, plus all other relief the court deems necessary and appropriate. He is represented by attorneys Peter L. Tragos and Peter A. Sartes of Tragos, Sartes & Tragos,PLLC in Clearwater.
