Publix accused of negligence after man falls in store

CLEARWATER — An individual is suing Brixmor Southeast Retail Manager LLC and Publix Super Markets Inc., property owner, alleging insufficient measures were taken to prevent injuries, liability and negligence.

Tony Sands Welch filed a complaint on Jan. 9 in the Pinellas County Circuit Court against the defendants alleging that they failed to keep their premises reasonably safe for the plaintiff.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he sustained physical injuries when he slipped and fell in a Publix store in St. Petersburg. 

The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because they allegedly failed to clean and manage their premises, and make sure that the aforesaid area was in a reasonably safe condition.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount that exceeds $15,000 plus interest. He is represented by Jacqlyn F. Bryant of Perenich, Caulfield, Avril & Noyes, P.A. in Clearwater.
