Belleaire Beach property owners alleges insurance carrier failed to pay for hurricane damage

CLEARWATER — Belleaire Beach property owners are suing an an insurance carrier, alleging breach of contract.

John Kallas, Vasiliki Kallas and Dora Kallas filed a complaint Jan. 10 in Pinellas Circuit Court against Anchor Property and Casualty Insurance Company, alleging the insurance carrier failed to cover damages from a hurricane. 

According to the complaint, on Sept. 10, 2017, the Kallases suffered damages to their property due to a covered peril, Hurricane Irma, under their policy. However, the suit says, Anchor Property has refused to provide coverage and benefits for the loss against terms of the policy. 

The plaintiffs allege Anchor Property and Casualty Insurance failed and refuses to admit coverage for the entire loss, and failed and refuses to pay the full amount of benefits to plaintiffs to which they are entitled.

The Kallases seek trial by jury, damages of more than $15,000, interest, court costs, expert fees, attorney fees, and all further relief the court deems just. They are represented by attorneys Dean Makris and Matthew K. Mullinax of Makris & Mullinax PA in New Port Richey.
