CLEARWATER — A former employee is suing a Clearwater business, alleging age discrimination.
Andre Grosz filed a complaint Jan. 10 in Pinellas Circuit Court against Ascenda USA Inc., doing business as 24/7 Intouch Inc., alleging the defendant Florida violated Florida civil rights laws.
According to the complaint, Grosz, who is in his 70s, was subjected to pain and suffering, mental anguish and emotional distress. The suit says Grosz suffered loss of earnings and other employment benefits and job opportunities, as a result of 24/7 Intouch's discriminatory practices in terminating his employment on pretextual reason after he was offered a customer services representative job.
The plaintiff alleges 24/7 Intouch failed to protect him from further discrimination, and failed to adequately supervise, control, discipline and/or otherwise penalize its employees who subjected him to disparate treatment due to his age.
Grosz seeks trial by jury, compensatory damages of more than $15,000, including back pay, front pay, punitive damages, interest, court costs and all other relief the court deems proper. He is represented by attorneys Kathryn C. Hopkinson and James M. Thompson of Thompson Legal Center LLC in Tampa.
